CMYK vs RGB

Have you ever printed something and upon inspection you realized it did not look like the colors were right, or what you saw on your PC? Well you are not crazy, this happens when you don't pay attention to which color profile you using. This can happen time and time again, and can mean frustration and lost money on print or design. Your colors look different on screen than print because printing uses CMYK color profile while the computer or electronic devices display RGB color values.

Is MS Word a good program to use for printing my images?

Microsoft word is a popular software, especially in business for creating letterheads, reports, newsletters and other typical business materials. Normally these documents would print to a desktop printer just OK regardless of the image color. The only issue with using Word for documents with color images occurs when the user wants to take the electronic file to a commercial printer for offset printing.Color images are printed in four colors which are loaded into the printing press. Microsoft word unfortunately does not support CMYK directly in its files. MS Word uses the RGB color format.

Solution
If you have already spent a few days working on a project in MS Word, its not too late too salvage. You can save your document in PDF and then consult with your printer or your designer if they can assist in converting the document to CMYK before print. This should work perfectly!
